As an organization that is representative of both Rutgers University and Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, we hold ourselves, our fellow collaborators and artists, and our work to the highest ethical standards and principles. As such we uphold the right of freedom of speech and expression for all.
Equally so, we believe in an individual’s right to privacy and protection against slander and/or abuse. Therefore, we ask all who wish to submit work to us and/or comment on published work to honor the privacy of the individuals who they have included in their submissions or mentioned in their comments. Unless you have explicit authorization to do so, please refrain from using any identifying information or visuals in your work that can be traced back to anyone. We ask that you also refrain from submitting anything that personally and deliberately attacks and/or offends the race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, beliefs, and personal character of another individual.
In accordance with the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), we ask that you do not include anywhere in your work protected health information (PHI) (please visit here for an explanation of HIPAA, and here for a full definition and examples of PHI).
Finally, the Co-Editors screen all submissions before posting them to our online magazine for adherence to the above-mentioned guidelines. The Webmaster screens all comments for this purpose as well. Any submission or comment that we deem to be in violation will warrant notification of the creator, artist, or commenter in question, and may result in the submission being withheld from publication and removal of the comment from the website.
